A Trade union leader and a top official of a ceramic industry located at Yanam, Puducherry in Andhra Pradesh died due to a
major outbreak of disaster violence here.
Workers after the
death of their leader M.S. Murali Mohan in
police action went to the house of president of company K. C. Chandrasekhar and attacked
him which caused serious injuries to the owner.
Many problems have been their in
the factory since January 2,2012.There were 800 contract workers demanding for services of senior workers be regularised and
wages revised.
Mr. Mohan was leading these
protests and tried to stop workers from going to morning shift on Friday.Meanwhile
Police attacked him and resulted in chest
injuries from where he was taken to
hospital, where he died.
By hearing this news workers started
destroying the company's properties. They targeted buses and burnt them which
were allotted for students of the Regency
Institute of Technology .Also they went
to Mr. Chandrasekhar's house and attacked him and due to severe injuries he was
shifted to a corporate hospital where he died at Kakinada in AP .
People residing there rushed to the factory and college
and looted computers, tables, chairs and ceramic tiles. Also the nearby
gas agency was looted.
